Victoria (Tori) Urban, President
Recognizing the positive impacts that team sports can have on an individual's mental wellness, Victoria founded H4H in 2015 to address the lack of free-to-play sports for people experiencing homelessness. She is employed as an assessor with Montgomery County's Office of Senior Services. When she is not working, Victoria enjoys spending time with her wife, Amy, son, Elliot, daughter, Anna, and friends and family. She loves all sports, will take part in any activity if laughing is involved, and is looking forward to the 2025 H4H season! |
Leo Porth, Vice President
Leo Porth began working with Hoops 4 Hope upon hearing of the idea from then coworker Victoria Urban, prior to the start of its relaunch and second season. Leo serves on the Hoops 4 Hope board as its Vice President and currently works as a mental health case manager in Philadelphia serving a population that includes those experiencing severe mental health, homelessness, and poverty. Basketball has been a huge part of Leo's life including having his 8th grade graduation gift being based off of the number of free throws he could make while the song Stairway to Heaven played. When not working or playing basketball, Leo enjoys reading, live music, and finding new hidden gems within the best city in the world, Philadelphia. |
Dia Swan, Social Media & Special Events Coordinator
Dia Swan is the Social Media and Events Coordinator for Hoops 4 Hope (H4H). Dia is employed with the Philadelphia School District as the Program Coordinator under the Department of School Organization. She has an 8-year background working with individuals from adolescents to adults who suffer from various mental health and substance use challenges. Dia is always up for a challenge and strives to motivate others to keep working on their goals. Working within H4H allows her to use her creative talent and think outside the box to help build the organization. Outside of her professional life, she is a fan of all Philadelphia sports teams and enjoys attending and watching games as often as possible. |
Jameer Nelson
Jameer Lamar Nelson, a native of Chester, PA, is a former professional basketball player who played for 14 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the Saint Joseph's Hawks in Philadelphia, where he was named national college player of the year in 2004. Drafted 20th overall in the 2004 NBA draft, Nelson spent the first ten years of his NBA career with the Orlando Magic. In 2009, he was named an All-Star and made an appearance in the NBA Finals. He has also played for the Dallas Mavericks, Boston Celtics, Denver Nuggets, New Orleans Pelicans, and Detroit Pistons. |
Dr. Stephen Porth
Dr. Stephen Porth is a Professor of Management atthe Haub School of Business, Saint Joseph's University (SJU), Philadelphia, PA, and the Senior Editor of the Journal of Jesuit Business Education. Steve has chaired three academic departments at SJU – Management, Food Marketing and Pharmaceutical Marketing – and served for 17 years as Associate Dean and Executive Director of graduate programs in the Haub School of Business. He is the NCAA Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) at SJU and is on the Executive Committee of FARA, the national association of faculty athletics representatives. |
Elizabeth (Betsy) Porth
Elizabeth "Betsy" Porth has spent her professional life advocating for children with special needs and providing non-instructional support to children and families in Philadelphia. She participated in opening the Pan American Wellness Center at the Pan American Academy Charter School. Besty has collaborated with the Office of Mental Health of the Philadelphia Department of Public Health and co-authored and developed the implementation strategy for school-linked behavioral health services. Betsy also has experience as an adjunct professor, having taught Psycho-Social Aspects of Disability" to students pursing medical professions at Arcadia. Betsy graduated with a BS from the University of Pennsylvania, and a PhD from the Medical College of Pennsylvania. Betsy has served on a number of boards, including Children's Scholarship Fund of Philadelphia, Needs in Deed, Chestnut Hill Senior Services Center, Laurel House (Montgomery County's Domestic Violence Center), School Board of Springfield Township, and more. IN her free time, she is a lover of the outdoors including traveling, golfing, fishing, hiking, skiing, biking, and trekking. |
William McDevitt
Bill McDevitt was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Drexel Hill. He graduated from Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government. He then attend Villanova University School of Law where he graduated with a Juris Doctor degree. Bill practiced law full-time for 15 years in Center City Philadelphia, rising to the position of partner with a law firm. In 1987, Bill began teaching as an adjunct professor at Saint Joseph’s University. In 1991, he accepted a full-time tenure track position. Bill taught courses in business law at the undergraduate, Master’s and EMBA level, as well as specialized courses in Employment & Labor Law and International Business Law. Bill has recently became a Professor Emeritus at Saint Joseph’s University. Bill has been active in his community throughout his career. He has served as president of the Notre Dame Alumni Club of Philadelphia, the Wissahickon Neighbors Civic Association, the Upper Darby Historical Society, among other nonprofit organizations. Bill currently serves as President of Friends of Sellers Hall, a nonprofit corporation which is preserving and restoring Sellers Hall - one of the oldest houses in Pennsylvania, built in 1684. |
Tim Horan
Tim Horan is a Partner at Heyday Athletic based Philadelphia. A sports industry veteran of thirty plus years, Tim has worked as a sports reporter, sports equipment sales rep, high school baseball coach, and baseball umpire. Tim, wife Kelly, and daughters Tessa & Grace live in his childhood home in West Chester, PA. Tim is an avid golfer and a diehard fan of Philadelphia’s professional sports teams as well as Notre Dame football and Villanova basketball. |
